Choosing the Correct Pad - Part 1

There are many steps that need to be taken in choosing the correct pad.  In this first part of the series, I will discuss the initial items that need to be identified prior to selecting  the correct pad.  The first step is determining the type of surface that you will be working on.  Some of the surfaces that you could be buffing include paint (single stage, base / clear), gel coat and fiberglass.  After determining the surface, decide on what type of operation (end result) you would like to perform or achieve.  These include cutting, polishing, waxing or a sealant.  Finally, decide on the type of machine you plan on using for the application (rotary, random orbital).  Once those items have been determined, then we can start the pad selection process.  In the next article we will start the pad selection process.
