Maintaining your car during the cold weather is easy to do. Here are a few tips to help you. When washing your car, try to use a self-service carwash when possible. These carwashes do a better job of getting salt and road contaminants off your vehicle. When cleaning out wheel wells, clean inside the rim the best you can to avoid corrosion or rust to form. Try to flush out any area where snow may have a chance to sit.
After washing the vehicle, clay the windshield and rear window. After claying apply a sealant to the glass. Our glass polishing kit works perfect for that and improves wiper life.
A third tip is to use a rag and spray some WD-40 on it. Wipe all rubber door weather stripping. This will help the rubber stay moist and pliable during the cold weather.
Another tip would be putting plastic polish on your headlights. This will help keep road grime from sticking to them when driving in snow and slush.
A final tip is spraying a penetrating silicon or “Deep Creep” in the lock cylinders. This will keep moisture from freezing locks up on extremely cold days. These steps will help your vehicle in the cold winter months.
